      Building Warehousing Competitiveness
Warehouse Design, Building for the Future
22nd April 2025 at Hotel St. Regis, Mumbai
The Indian warehousing sector faces a critical need for modernization, requiring a transition from conventional storage to adaptable, forward-thinking logistics centers. This evolution is essential for supporting the nation's economic growth and ensuring effective supply chain operations throughout India. The increasing demands of consumers, the expansion of e-commerce, and the need for streamlined logistics necessitate warehouses that function as integrated components of a resilient, flexible, and environmentally responsible logistics network. Historically, Indian warehouses have frequently lacked modern infrastructure and technological integration, resulting in operational inefficiencies and higher expenses. Nonetheless, the convergence of technological progress, government initiatives such as the National Logistics Policy and PM Gati Shakti, and the growing demand for premium warehousing facilities is instigating a substantial transformation across the country. Emphasis is being placed on optimizing space utilization through innovative design, leveraging data analytics for informed decision-making, and implementing sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact on a national scale. The increasing significance of urban logistics and micro -fulfillment centers, which are vital for meeting the demands of last-mile delivery in India's diverse urban areas, is also being addressed. The requirement for a skilled workforce to manage these advanced facilities is a key consideration. The importance of developing safe and ergonomically designed workspaces that promote productivity and employee well-being within the Indian warehousing sector is being highlighted. Efforts are being made to encourage collaboration among stakeholders, including architects, engineers, technology providers, and logistics professionals, to facilitate the adoption of best practices and shape the future of warehouse design in India. The conference sessions will focus on practical technology integration, urban logistics solutions, workforce well-being and safety in modern warehouses
